I think the show is silly, too. But not because it's some sort of bad influence. Laura...really! There's so much melodrama in your comment! MAIDS?! I do all of the cleaning myself and my daughter has yet to stuff toys in the couch. Also, she has been jumping on her bed AND the couch for two years and she started watching this show a month ago! If your kids are spoiled brats it's because you are failing as a parent not because of some half hour tv show. It's obvious you expect the tv to babysit, teach and mold your children. I don't! I take responsibility for everything my kids do and say! Do you allow your kids to watch Dora? She goes on dangerous adventures WITH A TALKING MONKEY and does it all alone. She leaves the house and goes far from home with no adult supervision and she's supposed to be 6 or 7!!! How about Max and Ruby? She's 6 and takes Max to places like the mall on a city bus! How about Sesame Street where the characters are all supposed to be kids but don't live with any adults?! The list goes on and on. I teach my kids that tv shows aren't real. However, my kids are smart enough to know that anyway. I agree with the parent who said we don't give our kids enough credit. Do you really think our kids believe monkeys talk and wear boots? Or that little animals get phone calls to rescue animals in trouble in a flying boat? Or that Bunny kids are real and can talk and stay home with no adult supervision all day? Or that the Thomas trains are real and can talk? And how about how mean some of the characters are? My kids don't go around being evil to each other!! You REALLY need to think about what your kids are being exposed to otherwise and see just how innocent and silly this show is. There are so many things worse and most of them your kids probably already watch!
Hey what is wrong with some of you!

Since when does someone’s weight have any factor in their worth. I am just glad I don't know any of you that made some of those comments!!!

This show is actually not bad. There are some shows that are just terrible E.g. "The night garden". At least Big Comfy Couch speaks clearly, and demonstrates life lessons. I am proud to have my 2 year old grow up with this quality show.
My little niece lives with me and she absolutely LOVES the show. I happen to enjoy it as well. But I think it jumped when Alyson Court left and they introduced the "other" Loonette. She not only looks like she has down syndrome, but shes a complete bitch.

Anyway, love the original.

Sickos. Disgusting....you are all sicko perverts.
I loved Snicklefritz the cat. He was so cute! And so were the dustbunnies I just wanted to reach out through that tv screen and hug them.

I think the episodes now just aren't the same without Granny. She was fun and it was a treat to see where the "Old Country" was in Europe. My guesses were either that she was Russian, Czech, or German.

What did happen to the actress that played Granny, did she pass away or something?
People just don't give kids enough credit. My kids LOVE this show and during the 10 second tidy they have NEVER put their toys away by stuffing them in the couch. They understand the difference, without me ever having had to tell them, that is where Loonette keeps her toys and that THEIR toys belong in the toybox in their room. I also love Alyson Court as do my twins, but I wonder what ever happened to Auntie McCasser? I'm looking high and low for a Molly doll for my 3-1/2 y/o daughter. This is a wonderful show and it teaches many valuable lessons like dealing with anger, how to share, AND to clean up after themselves. I also agree, if TV is not the main caregiver in the home, then the kids won't have so much trouble distinguishing fantasy from reality.
I remember watching this show ever since I was a kid... now I watch it while I babysit...
It was made for kids, so it's something you have to experience as a kid, futhermore, everyone I talk to always try the clock strech... even the kids I babysit try it... moreover, the 10 second tidy was a good influence on me, 'cuz every time I had a mess I tried to clean it up in 10 seconds (even though it took like 2 hours to actually clean up).
my point is that this is a good show for kids... and if the kids from today watched a kid show from like 20 years ago they'd be saying it's a "bad example" or what ever...
Never jumped. I have the fondest memories of watching this show every day with my 2 year old (now thirteen year old) daughter. It was kind of silly from an adult standpoint, but very charming too. But it wasn't meant for an adult audience. And my daughter never jumped on the couch ever or hid things under the cushions, because we told her that wasn't acceptable. The TV isn't the caregiver in our home, apparently unlike the homes of a few previous posters. Maybe that's difference.
My 17 month old daughter absolutely loves The Big Comfy Couch. It is a little unusual but has educational overtones which is important. This show is the only show my daughter will sit through otherwise she would rather be running around back yard. Kudos to Big Comfy and boo to Laura and her negative comments on the show
Don't any of you parents have an imagination? The couch is Loonett's TOY BOX. Of course she will put her toys in it. My 2 year old grand-daughter loves the show. She actually stands in front of the TV to watch it.
For the people who think this is such a bad show, do you actually think your child will never jump on the furniture if they don’t see Loonette doing it or put toys in the couch? Kids will be kids and that is the kinda stuff kids do weather they see it on tv or not, so they might start doing it at a younger age by watching it. Then you just have to do what your job title is with kids and be a parent and tell them not to jump on the couch (unless that is to much parenting for you then I’m sorry).
I have personally never liked the show just because I don’t like clowns I think they are one of the creepiest things around so I never watched it as a kid and guess what I jumped on the couch all the time NOT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF LOONETTE. My oldest daughter is 2 years old and she absolutely loves the show. Oh and she started jumping on the couch way before she ever saw the show. How else do they get bad behavior from this show???? The only other thing my daughter does is the clock rug stretch I THOUGH EXERSICE WAS GOOD!!!!!!
i LOVE THiS SHOW CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHEN iT AiRS AND WHAT STATiON... i WOULD LOVE FOR MY DAUGHTER TO WATCH iT WHEN SHE GETS A LiTTLE OLDER.
Let's remember that this is a show for kids. Of course adults won't like it. Personally, I think it's silly, but my daughter loves it. She stretched along to the clock rug stretch and wants a cat named Snickelfritz. If you move past the jumping on the couch and the unsafe behavior??? you would notice that this show teaches a message to kids. Whether it's potty training or using manners, kids do pick up on what is being taught. By the way my daughter has leared to start putting her things away. She even calles it "tidy", and no, she does not hide it in the couch.
