Sweets coming in, should've stuck with Stephen Fry and then Zack the Apprentice, the whole dumbing down of the show seems to have occurred after Sweets joined (cut the cheese etc), did they get new writers after the strike or something, the show went from a must TiVo to a can't be bothered anymore.

There seems to be a distinct strain of anti-intellectualism infecting the writing staff.

I used to really like watching Bones, but I agree with most of the posters here when they say the show has become soap operish. The show should be about solving crimes with Brennan and Booth in the field bringing back evidence. I like the Angela character -- however it seems to me that every show needs it requisite lesbian -- and now she is the chosen one. This does not make the story better or more interesting. I think the writers should forget the sex lives of their characters -- it is getting old. Booth and Brennan are interesting because they don't have sex! Please get back to the business of solving crimes -- you will keep your viewers if you do.

This show jumped the shark this last week with Angela being bisexual.This used to be a good show in the first season.I agree with the other posters who said this show is turning into a soap opera & getting away from the origional format.They should get back the the way it used to be.

Okay, so they decided not to drop Sweets down an elevator shaft: they instead treat us to a couple of minutes dealing with Angela's sex life...ending the show with Angela lesbo-lip-locking her college roommate...this after having a nice heart-to-heart "session" with Sweets at the beginning...does this answer why folks should not place blanket trust in psychology and psychiatry?
Previous posters are correct: the science and solving of crimes is taking a back seat to Hodgins mooning over Angela, Angela sleeping around and the immensely irritating Sweets pontificating psychobabble about it...
Please: more mystery, less drama.

A repeat jumper:

1) when they tuned down science in favor of soap opera

2) Not following up on the gravedigger storyline - come on, the guy tried to kill Bones and what did they do, take up the hunt and make him a fixture villian or drop it.. yes they dropped a promising storyline

3) Bones' father turns himself in and is then acquitted for murder for no apparent reason. wth??

4) Not ending season with Booth getting shot, waste of a cliffhanger.

5) Zach turning into a serial killer, for no good reason, instead of running with the ball and making him a Hannibal Lector character they attempt to retract their terrible mistake.

this show is turning into a soap, it jumped the shark when zack became gorgonzolla or whatevertf the guy's name was

and I hate angela, everything she says sounds like sarcasm, and she is the shows politically correct moral compass

the overconfident asian chick thing is done to death, ever since lucy liu did a wonderful job as a quirky character on ally macbeal now every show wants a version of her, like greys anatomy/lipstick jungle/journeyman, the same character over and over like a new stereotype
the PC moral lesson thing is getting out of hand too, it is a stupid MURDER show, but it seems like every show booth is getting a lesson in political correctness.. if he stumbles over the word lesbian then he gets the third degree but the women can spew the most outrageous misandry without accountability
I just finished watching the episode about the artist crushed in the car, booth learns that his assistant is a gay woman when she states, I've never been with a man and I NEVER will, she almost spat that statement - heterophobia?.... double standard much??? later booth stammers about lesbians and gets interrogated by angela about homosexuality, what lopsided garbage

these issues do not belong in the show, it is a dumbass borderline sci fi crime drama
we are here to be entertained not educated by the blue state manifesto

I've personally emailed about 20 times, and I know others have as well, requesting they add Zack/apprentice connection as the reason for jumping - yet its still not here.

And it keeps getting worse. The guy is a serial killer, yet he walks out of the psych ward and people hug him and hang out for the day as if nothing happens? They still love him like nothing is wrong? The cops dont go apeshit that a serial killer escaped "prison?"

God I loved this show - but holy cr*p its finished. And so is this site, it seems.

Jumped when it was obvious that Angel was playing second-fiddle to the female "star". I could never envision Angel even vaguely interested in skinny Bones.

Zack is a crazy serial killer and everyone LOVES him.

Really.

This was never a great show, but it's going down the tubes with all of the sex talk. This is a classic sign of writers who do not know what to do with the characters. The mysteries on this show are also getting to be boring. They are not predictable, but they are "who cares" in nature. Also, the overly politically correct nature of this show is a little annoying. The criminals are almost always white males.

yeah i have just watched season 4 episode 5 and zack says to sweets that he never killed anyone but he stays in the mental home because he doesnt think he will handle well in jail but know one else knows except for sweets.
the funny thing is that zack escapes from mental thing by using sweets at the beginning.

i know it was a shock to me to but i have just found out that zack is comming back to help in season 4 episode 5 - the perfect peices in the purple pond

The first show of the new season lined up the hurdle and the second one, Jabberjaws cleared it like the cow jumping over the moon when SEX reared its ugly head. A big part of the charm of the show was everyone knew Bones and Booth were the ideal couple except Bones and Booth sort of like Muldar and Skully. Tempy went from naive and innocent to... promiscuous, to be discreet. When Booth walked in on her and a boink buddy... that was it. I was through. Not sure how episodes 3+ turned out, the show is dead to me. From witty and wryly amusing to tacky and trashy.
