They moved the show to a more roving, Star Trek style show centering on the "Searcher" not the Earth

Buck dances
Shark Bytes
After only 8 shows there was a great shark sighting. In that the entire basis of the show, that Buck Rodgers was sole person from the 20th century in the 25th, was undermided. I think a writers strike prevented show linking season 1 and season 2, leading to the jaring disconect that doomed the show.
I liked the casting for Wilma, Buck & Dr H, but the writing, backgrounds, everything else, turned me off. They could have had a cheeky, science fiction, adult, Alice In Wonderland like show with a sense of wonder, bewilderment, you know? But they completely wasted it.
LMAO! Haven't thought of this how in years. My friends and I used to call it "F*ck Rogers Before the End of The 25th Century" because he always seemed to be desperate to get laid by somebody, anybody in every episode. This, despite the fact that he was supposedly such an intergalactic stud-muffin. Cripes, James Tiberius Kirk had a better track record, by far! Could have been the fact that Gil Gerard was such a homely, hairy, lard tub with a bad haircut that had something to do with it. Not a body that should have ever been in the same universe with form-fitting spandex, let alone wearing it.
OMG, what an incredibly bad show this was.

Since not too many of the posters here use other than pseudonomic identifiers on this site, I think it's presuming a little to say that all the responses are motivated by envy, seeing as you don't know with any certainty even what gender the posters are in many cases.
Could be there dander is up not because they're so full of envy, but because they suffer from a little condition known as "good taste". Which neither Buck nor his doxies were exactly emblematic of, but then again, neither was the decade known as the Eighties renowned for that quality, as I recall.

so sad to see the envy of old ,boomer, (before 1960, after #2 WW)girls in present age, time. they were of appearance of much age even in 1970s years, like the guest star girls in giant curtain hair in Buck Rogers. 1970s ,death zone, for ,boomer, girls in hair styles, clothing looks, appearances. they had old appearances even already then. now they attack, attack, attack young people ladies. so sad , the envy. --Juan C
I'm already laughing at the latest trend: Women displaying their forehead by pulling their hair back from it straight down the top of their head like a samurai or something. Looks stupid.
Don't think the Hensley sex-change thing is a rumour. I knew a couple of people who were crew members on the show, and they are certain this was true. Whatever, they did also say s/he was a royal pain in the a** to work with, supposedly believed 'her'self to be some huge star. Wonder whatever happened to Pamela? Not much, apparently, if her later 'career' is any indication.
whoa! jealousy from the older girls about younger women is brutal! i think he (joe) said that the girls themselves were great. but the hollywood mops on their heads were ugly. chill,,
For Joe in the City who posted about the "baby-boomers' ugly puffed up shaggy hair" - -if you were the right age in those days you probably would have drooled over it. In 20 years people are going to laugh at your generation's noise piercings that look like snot and boring straight parted in the middle blah hair "on otherwise attractive" females.
Personally I found this show entertaining at one time in syndication but would not watch it now.
