During its original run,I kept track of this show every week.It was a top 10 show every year until they switched nights(bite one).I watched it as a sports fan,but was more entertained by Hayden & Christine's relationship & found my self comparing it to mine.A very well-written show when it came to that. The sports stories were also good.By the time they went to Fla.(bite two)a very good show had the shark moving around a bit.It jumped during the 2nd season in Fla.,although I can't say it should've ended with the Breakers winning only one game. This great show was on for over 8 years(maybe 2 too long)(bite three)but it always made me laugh.Love to watch it in re-runs(even Fla.)Beats watching any sit-com today!
I have a Screaming Eagles sweatshirt, along with the final draft of "The Break Up" signed by Shelley Fabares, plus a few other incidentals. I am willing to part with these items, just contact me.

I've been watching Coach on Netflix, and we've progressed into the seasons where they are in Florida. I remember from watching re-runs before that I always thought the Florida episodes weren't as good. Watching them again, I think I know why. 1. The sets don't seem as authentic in FL as in MN, 2. more of the episodes seem to focus more on football instead of everyday life (I'm a football fan, but I think this wasn't good comedy material for them), 3. Hayden and Christine go from living in a more middle-class type of cabin in the woods(all things considered, it seemed to be pretty small) to almost a millionare's lifestyle, so it became harder to relate. Anyway those are my opinions.
I absolutely loathe this show. I had to sit through it week after week after interminable week because my mother loved it. I hated Hayden and Christine and, well, the whole cast of characters. I hated the writing. I hated the acting. I hated the premise of the show.
And, yes, I have a lot of pent up anger that I need to get out...

Moving to FL was the crown shark-jump. Stick a fork in it, already! I suspected an "Orlando Breakers" - Jacksonville Jaguars connection. However, Von, a Minnesota State - Iowa connection never crossed my mind. At most, I thought maybe the writers drew some inspiration for Hayden Fox from Iowa's Hayden Fry.
To "Guest" from 5/23: Yes, Bill "Dawber" Fagerbakke voices Patrick in "Spongebob." If you ever get the chance to see the TV movie adaptation of Stephen King's "The Stand," he has a major role in that as well.

I miss "Coach" so much.I love it and miss it.My favorite shows centered around the wedding when the bridal gown was burned and of course the famous swinging from the chandelier that Christine so gracefully pulled off.I love Jerry Van Dyke.I adore the whole cast and loved to hate Stewart and Kelly.Stewart the cry baby was a classic. When will this show be back in reruns?
Jumped when they moved to Florida (at least it wasn't the cliched NY or LA), but being in wintry Mionnesota added a lot of charm to the show. The cabin was such a fixture that their modern house just didn't seem like a good fit for the rugged Hayden Fox.
I disagree with most of you. The moving to Florida wasnt the reason the show ended. It was the whole annoying baby bit, and the redheaded owner of the team. Anyways, the premise on moving to Florida wasnt too unbelievable. He was a great coach, and he was hired to go pro. Like most college coaching staffs that go pro, he took his coaching staff with him. I personally liked how the Breakers went 1-16 the first season, and made wildcard the next season. Something not unbelievable.
I'm watching an episode of Coach right now (first of doubleheader) and enjoying the hell out of it. As far as the Katherine Helmond issue goes, I like her in Coach and everywhere else too. Art Hibke Lives!
Does No ONE see that this was a representation of the Iowa Hawkeyes???

The move from college to the pros was a "mini-jump". It didn't ruin the show but it was not as good. My fav line from this show is when Christine says to Hayden, "You don't even know what's wrong do you?" and he yells, "DO I EVER??!!??" In two simple lines they summed up the average male/female relationship!
