See JD, I feel just the opposite. I think I probably will go back to being a regular viewer once Grissom is gone and we don't have the Sara-Grissom relationship jammed down our throats every week. Once the show goes back to the science and the solving of cases (assuming that it will)I think I will enjoy it again. I'm looking forward to it.
Grissom is the main reason I watch cuz I want him. That man is UBER HOT! This show WILL jump when he leaves and I for one will not continue watching it. Warrick and Sara are already gone, and Katherine is an annoying Nazi B*tch with her stuck up supermodel attitude. Nick and Greg are cool but not enough to keep me watching.
I love CSI and I don't think Grissom's departure will cause the show to Jump, but it is on the skis and Ritchie is firing up the boat.
I hope they give Laurence Fishburne's character more of a jaded cop attitude. Someone who isn't afraid to smack around a suspect when they wise-off to him.

I dont think this show has jumped yet, but i think its about to with the loss of grissom coming up, and the loss of Warrick and Sarah
Yeah...this show def.jumped the shark when they made Sara and Grissom a couple. This was just too unbelievable. Grissom is just too "by the book" to have a relationship with a subordinate. I hate that they killed Warrick off but, that's not why I've decided to give up watching. I've decided to give up watching because the show no longer entertains me like it used to which is a shame because I was constant viewer from day one.
csi has not jumped. yea, characters change but the greatness of the show is the investigation piece of it and trying to figure out "who dunnit" and the details. this show is good because the characters are a smaller piece unlike that piece of crap ER
I was watching this show off and on mostly out of habit. The line that made me spit my coffee across the room in peals of laughter and totally killed any good opinion was this: set up: Sara trying to get Grissom to go away for awhile: "We can go to the Galapagos Islands. We can literally walk in the footsteps of Darwin."
Bwahahaha!
Bwahahaha!
Jay - you hit the nail on the head. CSI is a TV show - its sole purpose is to entertain. If the writers make choices that makes the show less enjoyable to people, why shouldn't they stop watching? Why would you waste an hour of your life every week watching something that doesn't entertain you any more? I stopped watching a couple of years ago and I don't miss it. I can read a book, listen to music, talk to my kids, take a walk with my husband. It makes no sense to me to watch a show just because you have always watched it. If it doesn't entertain me, then I turn it off. That's what you do with a TV show.
I found the long awaited season opener last night (10/9/08) a bit of a disappointment. . .if not outright lame.
Why wouldn't the under sheriff who shot Warrick not just simply go home?
No one saw him. He wouldn't be a suspect. But I guess that wouldn't have enabled them to 1) wrap up the show in a single episode, and 2) not provide for the opportunity for Warrick to die in Grissoms arms.
No instead he leaves some obscure clues so that a top CSI team could unravel.
Like I said, very lame.

Wow, how bankrupt are your lives? Comments like "I'm not going to watch anymore", I'm sad that so and so is leaving", How could they kill off so and so?". Get it together people it's a TV show. Probably the same people that were outraged when they killed off Henry Blake in M*A*S*H. How many times can you put a main character's life in danger, only then to have everything alright next season? People in real life die, or leave all the time, no coming back a few months. We are going to be sad for a while, and then move on with our lives, which not giving up the things we did before. I applaud CBS for actually going through with it. Warrick Browns death will not keep me from watching the rest of the season, who knows maybe will bring something new to the show, what a concept!
My friends and I have also decided that we will be leaving CSI. We are so disappointed with those that made these decisions and with the definite decline in the quality of the scripts and the loss of Warrick, Sidle and Grissom. I will probably watch those episodes Sara is to appear in to see how the Grissom, Sara relationship is written and if what I was told today, that Sara will commit suicide, then I definitely will, with regret, not view it anymore.
