I just LOVE how they replaced the music.
Paul Stupin, the executive producer AKA the guy who desperately tried to keep the show together without williamson or white, had the balls to say it had something to do with other than money.
WRONG. paul is cheap. and the show suffered with him at the helm. and he's laughing all the way to the bank, because less money for royalties equals more money for him, the executive producer.
Shows like the wonder years won't sell out the show for money.
Wait. What was that sound? Oh, its just Paul, cashing his check.
Kevin Williamson even said, out in the open, that the writers completely fucked up the show after he left.
ka-ching.
"honey" paul says. "more money for my yacht. i love not delivering what the fans want and saying the opposite while being recorded."
put an asterisk next to his name, for his marked as a phony.

I recently watched the first three seasons of Dawson's Creek...and I know when the shark jumped.
While this show may not be one of the best of all time, it certainly has its moments. The first two seasons have some truly moving moments.
The top 'jts' moments are laughable: day one (I always hate this, because that's literally impossible), unreal vocabulary (again, this was evident from the first show.)
The show truly jumped the shark when either Kevin Williamson left, or Mike White.
The first two seasons, while occasionally bordering on soap opera territory, (which is to be expected given the relationship triangle ****) are genuinely good entertainment. The actors are very convincing, especially Josh Jackson and Michelle Williams. Holmes was a bit too quirky the first season (but surprised me in season two, but she has a presence, and James had a bit of a thankless role.
Season three rolls around and the whole thing went down the shitter.
It's truly the definition of a show being lost without a clear voice. Think West Wing season five.
As i said, its hard to maintain a certain level of balance given the nature of these kinds of shows, but nothing works in season three. Did they have a plan? As a viewer, you allow a show like this to yank you around a bit...hey, its part of the fun. But you can tell as a viewer that the writers are making it up as they go along and have NO idea whats next. They were trying ANYTHING. New characters, weird stories
it jumped the shark in season three. whatever the reason: williamson and white leaving? probably. I'm not even going to watch the rest of the series because it was just, honestly, boring.

The show jumped for me before the finale. I mean I think there were some writing issues historically but the finale didn't need to be made.
Maybe this has alreay been stated but Dawson's should have ended with the show before the finalie. It was perfect. Joey off in Paris like she always wanted, Dawson with his finished movie and workign his way back to a friendship with Pacey, Jen, Jack and Grams in New York, Pacey finally coming to terms with the important things in life. Joey's monologue at the end of that episode was great and sometimes I watch that episode just to hear the end. It declarred everyone at peace and everyone pursuing their lives, meanwhile always keeping eachother in their hearts. I mean how much more perfect can you get?
I mean come on the finale was just not a good ending. Yeah that Jack and Doug thing was great, I mean totally a throw back to the earlier years. Pacey owning the Ice House, yes that was good. But Dawson doing a series, Jen dying, Pacey and Joey getting together in the end. I don't know it just seemed very un-Dawson's given the history of the show. Joey should not have ended up with Pacey or Dawson. Yes she loved them both but it would be a situation where she would never be able to choose between the two of them. She made that decision at the end of the previous episode.Went off with herself to Paris leaving the two guys to meet up and talk.
The reason Dawson and her didn't make sense is basically this when Kevin Williamson stopped writing for the show in the middle of Season 2 and Paul Stupin took over the core objective of the Joey and Dawson relationship changed. I mean Paul did not share the same dream as Kevin did. Paul liked Pacey and Joey and so when he took over he geared toward a Pacey and Joey relationship.
Dawson and Joey were Kevin's couple and even Kevin said when he came back to write for the Finale, he had written a Dawson and Joey ending but when he really thought about it, it couldn't happen given how much the show had changed since he left. Pacey and Joey didn't make sense either. I mean when Pacey liked her in Season 3, it seemed like he was going against his best friend. Come on guys, don't let Joey come between your friendship. Pacey did come off like a jerk though. I mean he broke the unwritten friend rule. Somehow though Pacey came out as the underdog eventhough he was the one who won Joey. I felt for Dawson at that point.
Season 4 when Pacey and Joey broke up that whole thing made no sense. The best episode was the season finale where Dawson is saying good-bye to Joey. This scene reminded me of the old Dawson's back in Season 1. When they kissed at the end it was great.
Season 5, Pacey was dating Audrey and Joey was okay with that. Joey didn't even think twice about her roommate liking her ex. Now if that were Dawson she would have freaked out. I don't know Joey and Pacey just never seemed like a likely couple.
Season 6 Premeire when D&J finally sleep together. Great! Then she gets all "Joey" and freaks out on him. I just thought this was poor writing judgment. I mean they deserved some time together. Then even though it is Dawson's Creek, he plays a minor role in Season 6. Season 6 is all about Joey and whoever she likes and is dating. I admit when they got Pacey and Joey together again there were a few cute episodes, like the K-Mart, the assistant at Pacey's work and the dance. But the dance when she breaks it off with him again to go back to Eddie. It just is like, okay it is over because if she truly loved him she would have been with him and not ran off with Eddie right away. So okay they ended again and worst than the first time.
In the Finale when she is telling Jen that she has always been running from it (meaning love) she describes things she did to Dawson, not Pacey. She always ran from Dawson, Season 2 ran from him to find herself, Season 3 ran from him to be with Pacey, Season 6 ran from him because their night wasn't PERFECT and because supposedly he hurt her by not being honest, which yes I understand but he was rigth about their perfect timing and he broke up with his girl friend because he loved Joey. Seems to me she was always running from Dawson, not Pacey.
But in the end the D&J thing had been drug into the ground and it just wasn't there anymore. I mean they had lost the chemistry due to their constant awkwardness. They seemed like soulmates which did make sense but Joey would have done the right thng if she had left Dawson and Pacey to be friends and not picked one or the other.
Jen dying, absolutely not what should have happened. I mean her character was the one that showed the most depth over the years. I mean you were able to watch her struggle and grow as a person throughout the seasons only to have her die in the last episode. Bad decision. I mean what purpose did she serve? I wanted to see Jen find love and having a daughter was great but I didn't wantto see her alone. She had grown and the show needed to recognize that and give her some sort of a happy-ending. Jen always got the shaft. I mean season 1 she was stereotypical preety girl but the rest of the seasons she always lost out only to be rescued by someone so she wouldn't spiral. Toward the end she was probably the best character on the show.
Joey got old. I mean yes I am a huge Katie Holmes fan but come on. Seems to me it should have been her creek and not Dawson's.
All and all the finale should have been the episode before the finale.

Jumped the shark when they wrote Meredith Monroe (Andi McPhee) out of the show. I just could not believe that Pacey would not forgive her for her transgression. Totally out of his character. How many guys did Joey sleep with and he forgave her.I think that Pacey Andie is the only couple that really worked. Dawson and Joey, No. Twenty years and they still did not have it figured out. My ending would have been like this.
1. Pacey and Andie,, A believable relationship. Great on screen chemistry.
They would have stayed in Capeville. Him with the Ice house her a teacher. They just smoked together.
2. Dawson off to Hollywood Still trying to figure out the difference between platonic love and lust. Maybe starting to miss Jack (I just had to throw that in there)
3. Joey,, Off to New York realizing she could not be with either Dawson or Pacey. She would have figured out that a relationship with Dawson would verge on incest, and that to much time had passed for her to repair her relationship with Pacey.
4. Jen. I would not have had her die. She would have been in New York also with her demons put to rest and looking out for Joey, who needs looking out for.It would have been implied that Jen had a stable relationship with a unknown character.
5. Jack would be a successful soap opera star who commuted between New York and Los Angles, see the various characters during his travels.
If anyone looks closely the inspection stickers on the cars are North Carolina and one occasion a stop was made by a roadside marker which was a North Carolina historical marker.
If you look at Katie Holmes today and then Meredith Monroe. Meredith even being 10 years older out classes her.
Just my two cents

I'm a fan from Puerto Rico. I want to express my feeling's I really think Dawson should of married Joey. Please Joey at the end with Pacey. No come on this really ruined the whole series.I mean Joey made a beautiful couple with Dawson. He care for her alot. He gave her the money so she could study in college. And at the end Jen dies it was real sad. Hey what happen to Jen gram. Did she died to.
It jumped when Pacey named his boat True Love after Joey. From then on, Dawson faded away into the background and you realized they were gonna switch from DJ to PJ. The whole explanation in the finale for why DJ don't end up together was stupid. KW doesn't understand that most people think of soulmates as those who are meant to be together. DC goes against that idea to allow for Pacey to get the girl
The show jumped when they went to college. The worst part of it was Dawson and Joey's on and off relationship, Charlie, and I was never a fan of Audrey. Season three will always be my favorite. The chemistry between Joey and Pacey lept off the screen. Those episodes were so romantic and heartwrenching. Joshua Jackson was always the best of the bunch and he showed us who the real leading man was. Katie Holmes lost her appeal to me with season five, particularly for how she acted after Dawson's dad died. Michelle Williams always showed her amazing acting chops, too bad she was always in KH's shadow. Then again which one of them is an oscar nominated actress. Regardless, the Pacey/Joey romance was the highlight of the series for me. The buildup to their romance are some of the best episodes, and despite my eventual distaste for Joey and KH I am happy Pacey got his girl in the end.
I'm rewatching some of season 4, and Joey and Pacey are actually a much better couple than I used to think. However, I always felt it was unfair that Joey and Dawson were never given the chance they deserved. I agree they lacked the chemistry she and Pacey had but I think that had a lot to do with their real-life dating, so JP immediately had that advantage. DJo were still a much better fit than Dawson and Jen.
I never had problems with the vocabulary on this show. Some of you guys must be some real idiots. I'm not even that good at vocab. I think your parents must have deprived you of words when you were kids.
The magic was really gone when Kevin Williamson, the original writer, walked out at the end of season 2. With the exception of the character of Todd in season 5 and 6, Dawsons Creek was extremely average from season 2 on. Don't get me wrong, still entertaining but not like the epic omg this is the best show ever feel. I was ticked that Dawson and Joey never really got their chance to be together at a time that they would have been good for each other. And remember in season 1 when we were all rooting for Jen to be Dawsons girl, but joey came along and we were pissed! By the time Dawson did get together with Jen it was very lack luster, same as when Dawson finely slept with Joey. If any of you haven't seen season's one and two they are really in a class by themselves as compared to the rest of the series.
The way Dawson found Jen even more hot laying there dead gave me the creeps. He felt his giant head and her shrivelling body was erotic. Yuk!
I thought the ending was perfect. The things that everyone's upset about are the things that set the show apart.
How many shows have not one but two of the main characters die? I mean, Mitch dying, that could happen in other shows. Grams getting breast cancer, that could happen in other shows. But Jen dying? That finale was one of the most moving episodes of television I've ever seen. It's so powerful. People die, but death is never portrayed that well. You know a show is good when it can make you cry for an hour AFTER it's over.
And Pacey and Joey was perfect. The whole Joey/Dawson relationship was such a childish cliche. Just because you're best friends with a member of the opposite sex does not mean that you're romantic soulmates. That's just silly. Joey had chemistry with Pacey; she had none with Dawson. The times in the show that they were a couple probably made for the most boring scenes of the whole series.
I agree that the pre-graduation and post-graduation seasons seem like two different shows, in a way. However, I think that both parts are done so well that I really don't care. I may even prefer the post-graduation stuff, because they're not all whining all the time.
I do wish that there weren't so many cliches: Jack turning into a drunken frat boy, Pacey turning into a man-slut stockbroker, and especially Audrey becoming an alchoholic. I loved the character in the fifth season, why did they have to turn her character into this totally messed up girl? And then her hooking up with CJ? Gross.
And then later Jen got together with him? That seemed really out of nowhere, for him to be such a freak and then all of the sudden he's sweet, he likes her, and they're this great couple?
But the additions of Emma, Eddie, David, Todd, and even Natasha really made the show better and more interesting than it had been in high school.

It jumped when the show became all about the DJP love triangle. The original point of the show was for 2 lifelong friends (Joey and Dawson, not Joey and Pacey) to fall in love. Once it became about Dawson and Pacey becoming enemies to compete for Joey's love, the show drifted. Also, you could tell how real the D/P tension was (apparently there was a brief off-screen triangle between them too)
Well i have just recently recieved the Dawson Creek seasons on dvd but I know about the Series Finale and the way that Joey and Pacey stay together.
I am cofused that if Dawson and Joey are Soulmates then why did they not get together in the end?

Stupid Stupid Stupid
Comon! Make some more stuff the show was great! Why did it end? It did sort of jump a little bit or started to, but it oviously pulled itself back up there. All the WB shows had to end, and every show has to eventually. Dawson's should've gone for a least another year.and Pacey and Joey, YUCK! Comon, it is okay, but I don't prefer it. And Jen should not have died. She should've have gotten sick, but not dying. They need to re write it and make one more episode. Make a major flic or something. Seriously think about it people. It would be great! Even if Joey and Pacey are still together, Dawson's Creek will forever be a legend and you know it!
