I'm only in my twenties, but I love this show. I ran across it one day and was hooked. Then the channel it was on changed formats and stopped airing it. Does anyone know if the reruns still air? Even as a young girl, I can still appreciate Randolph Mantooth. I think he has the coolest name.
There was an "Adam 12" crossover. In the pilot, Roy and John see the two cops, Officers Malloy and Reed, from Adam 12 in the hospital. They also talk for a couple minutes with Dixie.
It was the two cops from Adam -12. I don't think the character names on Emergency! were the same as those on Adam-12.
"Beep-boop-Beep-Boop-AnnnnnnnnnnnnT!"
This was the reason for watching TV in the 70's and 80's! Whether it when the"Rattler" bit Johnny, or when the Hippie got bit by the black widow spider,or when Dr Brackett(I play a dr.on tv) Totalled his new Caddy, the little kid got stuck in the headboard or the old geezer had the engine fall on top of him, EMERGENCY WAS THE SHIGGEDY! And Dixie made my daddy's south rise again!

Man, was Randolph Mantooth (Johnny Gage) a hottie or what? I used to love this show when I was a kid. To me, it never jumped.
What child of the '70s didn't get a chill up his/her spine upon hearing Eee-ooo-AAAWWWW! Never got tired of watching Johnny and Roy doing their rounds...whether the cute "human interest" rescues or the big cliffhanging ones that required the Jaws of Life, it was always fascinating. We didn't know much about their home lives, and that was as it should be. Wish they still made shows like this now.
EMERGENCY WELL ALWAYS BE A GREAT SHOW. I LOVE IT!!!ALAWAYS WELL. COME-ON FOR GOD,S SAKE. THE GENERATION OF 2000 IS WATCHING ER AND CHICAGO HOPE. WHOPAVED THE WAY FOR THEM? I ALWAYS LOVED CAP, MARCO, CHET, ROY, JONNY, MIKE. LIVE ON 51 IT ROCKED THEN AND IT ROCKS NOW.MV
Caught the reruns in syndication and a couple of the movies as a kid in the early '80's. I still have that urge to become a firefighter/medic sometimes. Cool show and cool truck!
my father was a fire fighter so every saturday night at 8 our world stopped to watch Emergency!! i think what made it a good show was like in real life not everybody lived . they would pull out all the stops but alas the victim didn't make it. this show found the right balance of drama and light hearted moments.
Emergency! was a great show!

What I meant was that 'Adam 12' only covered the city of Los Angeles. The sheriff department was the police protection LaCo had. The paramedics were only certified to work LA County only. That was stated a few times over the seasons. Once more paramedic programs started, then the certification was probably state wide instead of just the county. There are a few smaller cities within the county that 'Squad 51' covered, but not LA as far as I remember.
