I was never a faithful viewer, but when I caught an episode I felt it to be entertaining enough. As for the grunting, that was Tim Allen's trademark from his stand-up routine, which the series was based on. It was basically a "no matter how women try to domesticate them, men still have primitive urges like cavemen" sound. I agree that Jill morphed from a woman with a dry wit and a sense of humor about her husband's primitive behavior, to a bitchy know-it-all. I'm all for higher education, but in her case it was a bad idea. I heard it was because the actress wanted her role to be as important as Tim Allen's,
and it hurt the show. A big part of the fun of it was the teasing, affectionate camraderie between Tim and Jill. As for Mark going goth, I found that entirely believable, considering he was sort of the alienated outsider in the family.

To Ronnie: Believe it or not, men are different, and some of them actually go to bed wearing shirts. That's why men and boys' sleepwear usually consists of tops and bottoms.
The "Bewitched" episode was 'WAY' off balance!
As well, Mackenzie, would you be willing to send me episdes? Like if you hae them on your computer? If not there are programs that can be found online to put them on your computer. Could you please contact me at southernlily17@yahoo.com ANYONE WITH HI EPS ON THEIR COMPUTER! It will be much appreciated.:^O
JG, Tim Allen is now one of the biggest TV comedians we know. The Santa Clause movies? Wild Hogs? and much more are great movies. He is obviously viewed as amazing by the majority of Casting directors, and the U.S. population, because he is such a success.:-p
I only watched one episode, the first show, I think. I remember some scene where Tim Allen takes his shirt off with his young child in some form of male bonding. That kind of freaked me out. I seen parts of later shows in the background when I was at my sister-in-law's house, which just confirmed to me that the show was annoying and stupid. I just assumed this show appealed to women- my brother didn't like it either. I was surprise how long this show lasted- I thought it would get wisely cancelled after one season.
HA HA!!! DolFan 316, That is true. But at the same time that kinda is what makes them as cute as they are. Tim goes off and complains about her too, but the goes right back and does her. You have to say, that is the typical Male as well. The sex must've really been good! lol. But they do eventually turn Tim into an incompetent moron. He was a little intelectual at the beginning, which was the reason they were together. And if you watch enough then you know in te storyline when they met was n college, Jill was a druggy activist and Tim was a partying stud. There wasnt much there either... But it is still a great show.
I NEVER watched this show or missed having not watched it. Hard to believe
ANYONE thought Tim Allen was funny.
After checking Wikepedia it scared me to
find out how long this show ran.
"I agree with one of the people named Guest, on page 8. I do think one of the reasons Jill stayed with Tim was the sex."

That was me! Yup, Jill was the prototype of today's woman, who will gladly keep having sex with some guy, then complain to all her friends afterwards about how pathetically inadequate he is before having sex with him again and again. There just didn't seem to be any other real reason for them to be together.
Tim Allen's grunting is what turned me off from this show. I found it obnoxious instead of funny. What made it even more irritating was my brother imitating the grunt sounds constantly. Other than that, this was a good family show.
When the kids hit puberty the dynamics got kinda messed up, but though the shark emerged slightly, it never really jumped.
Home Improvement became my favorite show once Full House was cancelled.
i liked the episode "home alone" where tim is trying 2 write his book but is distracted by many things. i thought it was funny. i have all the seasons, and even though they run constantly though syndication on tv, i never get tired of this show. tim was hilarious and charming, jill was a great mother, wilson was the kind of neighbor i'd like 2 have (kept 2 themself, but was there when you needed something or just a friend 2 talk 2. the kids were cute when they were little and as the show went on and they grew older i liked how they started addressing points that teenagers stuggle with.
great show.
I agree with one of the people named Guest, on page 8. I do think one of the reasons Jill stayed with Tim was the sex. I mean, they (being Tim and Jill) make comments that hint that all the time. Yes, It probably wasnt intended to seem that way, but it is assumed. She is intelligent, and he is kind of a stupid ass sometimes. But, Jill does become a bit of a b*tch when she goes to college. But, they are still the cutest couple, because they joke with each other and do have wonderful chemistry. And, lets face it, half the time there is a more intelligent one and a bit dumber one in every relationship. And, they do make a point to say that Tim has a good education, just not so much common sense and a childish spirit about him.
I somewhat agree with Ryan. I am a girl, but I know plenty of males who watch this show. I was born the year this came out, and I watched it a little growing up, and barely ever miss it now. Me and my cousin quote lines from the episodes all the time. Like "You fired the granite guy!" and "Think car cover" as well as "Demolition derby, or sexy wife?" They make us laugh.
I don't know how the last poster can claim the majority of the viewers were female. I was around 10 when this show first aired and I, along with my two brothers, watched this show from day one and loved every episode. To this day, my guy friends and I will quote various lines from all the episodes. One of the classics of my generation.
