Great show and I agree with the recent comment - Tyne Daly should have her own show!!
To Greg McGee: Amy and Bruce never "did it." They flirted, and were very good friends, and clearly were attracted to each other, but their relationship never went beyond that. She did dream at one point that they kissed, but it didn't actually happen in the story.

Since the show was cancelled, it never had the chance to fully recover from the catastrophic David McLaren storyline. So I guess that qualifies as a "jump the shark moment."
i've been looking for judging amy dvds for a very long time now and i think cbs should release them.

judging amy was a show full of characters that made for a wonderful show.

i think we should have more shows with true content and great acting.
I loved this show and I will buy it on DVD. They were real and Tyne Daly should have her own show!
When Amy and Bruce "Did It", thought was disgusting and said Goodbye.

Amy would just sleep with anything with a pulse: Bruce, Lauren's karate instructor, etc.
I enjoyed this show immensely, for the most part, but I have to agree that the final season was a mess. I hated Kyle - never have been a big Kevin Rahm fan, although he is good in Desperate Housewives this season. I think that Dan Futterman was much better for the show. To Cindy 91 - I read that Futterman left the show because it was shot in LA and he didn't want to be separated from his family, who still lived in NY. I too wish that they would get the DVDs out soon. If dreck like Jackass and other garbage can be released on DVD so quickly, why do we have to wait for the good stuff. I read (I think it was in TV Guide) that Amy Brennaman approached CBS about doing a movie to wrap up all the loose ends of the show and CBS turned her down flat. Guess it's more important to have shows like Kid Nation and Survivor and Big Brother on the air than quality programming.
I voted for "Amy left Stu at the altar" because that was a big part of it, but really the whole 5th season was a DISASTER. Karen Hall took over as showrunner, and decided to throw away the great show she was given, and start over from scratch with a stupid show about some guy mourning his dead wife. I guess we're lucky she kept Amy and Maxine, because after she was FIRED, the show was able to recover somewhat. It never fully got back to the point it had been before the regime change, though.
Judging Amy is such a wonderful show.! What a shame that TNT doesn't see its entertaining quality.

We are paying a hefty price to subscribe to TV and yet, what do we get: NOTHING. We need to get the DVDs available on the market and make our own viewing schedules. No more "Paid Programming" hours of promoting things that do not work. I hate to pay to support that.!

The networks must learn that without good serial shows and movies, there is nothing to watch. The viewers can boycott the products shoved down our throats and see the resulting consequences.

I am so angry.

I love Judging Amy, the child cases were so real and what a credit is Tyne Daily. Her role as a protector of children was real and so emotional, she made you feel the pain. I wished it was on DVD, why can other shows still on the air be on DVD but not this? Shame on TNT for taking it off the afternoon lineup
Dan Futterman also recently appeared in "A Mighty Heart" with Angelina Jolie. He played Daniel Pearl and I believe that he wrote the screenplay.
I think maybe Futterman left to write that Capote movie- the one with Phillip Seymore Hoffman-what the hell was the name of that movie? I really liked it, but for the life of me can't remember the title! You know the movie I'm talking about. Anyway, Dan Futterman wrote the screenplay, and I think was maybe nominated for it.
This show is probably the most intelligent show I've seen on network TV - it's more in the vein of things seen on cable.

That is why I'm confused as to why it is not available on DVD - I would buy it... but if they wait much longer, I'll forget about it.

Oh well.
(I guess its back to watching CSPAN...)
I love this show and never get tired of it. I love the way they addressed current issues albeit briefly. The political tone was interesting as were the family dynamics. I am sure most people do not have perfect families and can relate to a family member who is occasionally too whiny, judgemental, needy...etc. I was so sad to lose Richard Crenna but how much fun was Cheech Marin? I would have liked a neeter ending but that's show biz!
Actually Kyle was a mind-numbing, boring mess and, then, his learning curve (returning to medicine) got too painful. Why do posters think he was one of the best things to come out of the show? Had Vincent stayed for the entirety they'dve found a way to make his character grating too.
The final season was ridiculous. Vincent is in debt thousands of dollars, then the whole issue is dropped. The family business is going under. Maxine has a heart attack. And that was all within the FIRST TEN EPISODES! It's like the writers were just throwing stuff against the wall to see what stuck. True, the show had been declining in the past couple of seasons (David McLaren, with his decapitated wife, Kyle, with his puppy dog eyes, and Sean, with his homicidal gay ward, were pure shark bait), but rarely has a show so clearly taken a nosedive over the span of just a few episodes.
