This is one of the best memories of my childhood. This, Thundercats, Transformers, GI Joe, Ghostbusters, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the last great Satruday morning cartoon) were wonderful. Does anyone else remember when it was on USA's Cartoon Express. That marked the end of an era when Cartoon Express was gone. The new series they showed on Cartoon Network was awful. The animation was not what it should have been, Prince Adam was a wuss, Orko was so annoying, adn Tela was too manly. Why can't they let good cartoons rest and reate something new and original?
Has anyone ever read the original mini-comics that came with the toys? There was a definite "Conan the Barbarian" feel, with no Prince Adam and no royal family.
Masters of the Universe jumped the shark the very instant that the first cartoon was produced. They turned a swords-and-sorcery theme into just another superhero theme. And adding Orko as comic relief was just the icing on the shark-jumping cake.

The original 1983 version rocked. This and Thundercats are tied for my favorite cartoon of all time ( I was 4 in 1983). To all you people saying He-man the cartoon had gay undertones, you're reading way too much into a cartoon ( although the I Love the 80's series left me laughing for hours). Boy, do I wish I had saved the toys, along with my T-cats and Turtles. I might be rich now! (no guarantee, though). Anyway, the second version sucked, I had no interest in watching the live-action film w/ Dolph Lundgren, but the third version on Cartoon Network was animated really well. I will have to check for the DVD later. Thanks for the memories.
P.S. How to get Adam as your middle name like I did in three easy steps!
1. Have your parents not give you a middle name. This is important.
2. Apply for Soc. Sec. Card at age 5. Fill in "Adam" for middle name.
3. For the rest of your life, "Adam" will appear on all formal papers as your middle name. Congratulations! You're legal now, baby!

I would say that He-Man and Prince Adam are indentical twins because they look exactly alike for but with He-Man his skin colour is tanned, he's got orange hair, red boots and a blue strippy top with a red cross and he speaks in a much deeper voice where as Prince Adams skin colour is white, yellow hair, white top with a pink waise coat, purple trousers, pinky purple boots and he speaks in a teenage voice but other than that they look exactly alike.
I liked the show, but I've got to say that it jumped the shark when She-Ra was created. It seemed like they put more emphasis on her and gave her better powers (a sword that could transform into a rope, she had magical healing hands, etc.) They also made toned Skeletor down a bit when it was revealed that he was a student of Hordak. If it's not broke,....
What was up with those pink tights Prince Adam wore? Freakin He-Man suffered from multiple personalites.Either he was He-Man Master of the Universe with a power sword(falic symbol), a giant cat, and Princess Teela to have his way with. and then all the sudden he would become that queer Prince Adam and try to have gay love with Man at arms... Im sure that screwed some kids up...But seriously He-Man is the sheeit.
Just what the heck did Orko look like under that hood anyway? That always irked me the most. I remember the episode with the girl Orko where they went in a cave and showed each other their face. Why couldn’t we see it? Maybe it’s because he would look exactly like the joke magician he was.
It was cool how He-Mans voice added volume and reverb after changing. Another thing that bothered me was how much of a punk He-Man was as Prince Adam.

The show was excellent Saturday morning cartoon fare. I watched it till it got cancelled then I moved on to such classic cartoons like Widget: The World Watcher and Dino the Last Dinosaur. I still read the children's books based on He-Man until I was 11 then I started to concentrate more on Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat and World Heroes (and I never turned back). However there are some childish people in the world who are still willing to play a He-Man game 15 years after the show got cancelled - I prefer Final Fantasy over He-Man anytime
. And an immature guy by the name of Grimlick in the year 1999 took the classic NES game Kung Fu (Spartan X in Japan) and made a crappy He-Man game out of it. These are the people who made the show jump the shark. Grow up and return to your married life where you support your family, your mortgage, and your SUV.
To me, He-Man never jumped the shark. I loved watching then, and I love watching now. It sure beats all the Japanese style of cartoon crap on now. This cartoon was a major part in my childhood, and I will never forget it. Some of my best years were when i played with my Masters of the Universe toys.
The show featured these horrible public service announcement a la "GI Joe" at the end of the episodes. I know they meant well, but c'mon He-Man, how can I take seriously your removal of a door on a discarded refrigerator?
In the episode with Mallick wanting Teela... they portrayed my mother, the winged beast, as evil for demanding Mallick's soul as payment. She was only hungry, is that a crime? And that ending that the other woman would offer her soul in exchange for Mallick's?! Please... no guy is worth offering your soul, no matter how in love with them you are. What a terrible moral to teach children!
I saw the I Love the '80s special on VH1 a few days ago, they were talking about how gay He-Man seemed to be may be it's the piss-poor animation of Filmation at the time but what were they thinking of making Prince Adam look the same as He-Man (only He-Man had more muscle tone and a really good tan). At least the latest "He-Man" cartoon on Cartoon Network made a little more sense by making Prince Adam, a puny 15 year old prince who turns into a big heroic gladiator from Enterna named He-Man. Well anyway, not that I hated the original in fact I liked the original but if you look at the original He-Man and Prince Adam can do a lot gay **** we don't really see when we were kids watching the cartoon. Just watch the "I Love the '80s" special sometime you'll know what I'm talking about! BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!! I HAVE THE POWER!!!! ROCK ON!!
