I can't believe how many people compare Tom Green to Andy Kaufman. Andy Kaufman was much funnier than Tom Green and his show. Do you know what else was funnier? "Jackass" was funnier than The Tom Green Show." "Pimp My Ride" is funnier. "Small Wonder" was funnier. "What a Dummy" was funnier. "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" is funnier than both of those combined, which means it's way funnier than this show. Hell, Dylan Avery and his koo-koo crew from the "Loose Change" 9/11 conspiracy propaganda internet videos are funnier than The Tom Green Show.
Alert: Tom has a new talk show called "Tom Green's House Tonight". It's not for fans of the gross out shock humour. This show is very low key and interesting because the guests feel very comfortable and speak freely in Tom's living room.
PS I agree with those posters who say that it jumped the shark when he moved to MTV USA. In Canada the show was just wacky and funny and not so over the top. Anybody remember Gaetan the French-speaking poetry shovel? hehe

From Xaq: The cancer special was the most amazing and terrifying moment i had in my television-viewing life. How did he make cancer funny? HOW? I was laughing, but i was sad?
They say comedy comes from tragedy, and Tom proved it. He never jumped the shark, he just got old and kicked off the air.
The Tom Green Show was a good show. If you don't like the show's absurdist Dadaism that's fine, but don't say it jumped any sharks. It was funny.

Actually, I remember I saw this reruns of this show on MTV2 about a year ago. I’m American and remember the show when it aired on MTV in 1999. To tell you the truth, looking back on the show now, the funniest parts were the studio conversations between Tom, Glenn, and Phil. Whenever those three were together on screen, I laughed my ass off! They could pretty much talk about ANYTHING and make it funny. They also all three added something: Tom was the loud comic, Glenn was the embarrassed Everyman, and Phil would just keep steadily laughing even when nothing outwardly funny was said. I could never watch them together without at least smiling. This part of the show is actually funnier now than it was back then. But, looking back at the on-the-street antics, those weren’t particularly funny. Just kind of annoying and loud. This is sad, because I had been a fan. If I had to pick a Shark Jump moment, I would choose the Monica Lewinsky episode. I don’t know why, but seeing that just made the entire thing seem POINTLESS. She shouldn’t have been on there. It was like watching an episode of Entertainment Tonight or something. I don’t remember like determinedly saying “That’s it, I quit watching”…I just kind of forgot about the show after that and I think it was cancelled not long after.
I dont believe Tom Jumped The Shark... He had something original to TV.. something we did as middleschool/highschool kids in my hometown.. run around and try to get a rise out of people... once the offer from the network known for suck offered him a job and more money than he was getting in his career that was the downfall of the career.. if it wasnt for tom green there would be no Jackass.. Tom green paved the way for those kinds of shows... he had countless fights with MTV over this stuff.. now he is doing an internet tv show... see what his career got turned into from mtv screwing him over.. man.. the day tom green jumps the shark is the day he gives it all up...
big shout out to John Hein!

The more famous Tom Green got, the more people would just play along/laugh with him, rather than get freaked out when he did his antics out in public with the exception of Glenn, who took Tom's abuse no matter what.
Let's face it, this garbage is just regurgitated Howard Stern with the gross-out factor set higher. Strictly for acne-infested 13-16 year olds who think lighting their own farts is the pinnacle of humour. As for the asshole himself, what goes around comes around. You can't be that nasty, mean and disrespectful without karma coming on a search and destroy mission for you. And it got him...right in the nuts. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving piece of slime.
The show never really jumped the shark, but even some true Tom Green fans will agree with me when I say that sucking off cows and yelling at random people just to make them mad gets a little annoying. There was this MSN live chat when Freddy Got Fingered came out, and he just kept talking about how far far he'll go: hurting others' feelings. It's almost as if it wasn't him. The Tom Green I know likes to hump dead moose and masturbate erect horses & doesn't have any consideration for other people. I'll keep watching the show, but just like Viva La Bam (some guy who likes to skate and torture his parents), I'll keep watching Freddy Got Fingered and the Tom Green Show (some guy who likes to skate and torture his parents). Pattern?
Curiuosity got the best of me when I saw this on commercial and it almost killed my last ounce of respect and faith to quality television. I couldnt bear watching a minute without stimulating my gagging reflex. Embarrassing is too weak of a word to describe such mind numbing, idiotic, senseless program on tv. Its too painful and unbearable to watch. To think that it lasted for 5 years ( noted on its segment provided by this site). I cant help but ask , whats with the world of the television nowadays? Havent the axing of great and quality shows enough that you put this horrible show on air just to spite the televiewers? To the producers of the show, congratulations for such a great job in attracting numbers of televiewers who believe that this show is funny. Cant blame them for thinking that way. In the first place there will be no such viewers if their arent this kind of show at all. Absurdity seems to be the fad nowadays. Disillusionment and unidealism is the keyword here. What a waste of time programming but then again I know a lot of people will disagree. To be honest I think that most of the comments here who criticize the TTGS is worth reading than spending your valuable time watching such mindless freakin' show. Hail to all of you who think this show stinks. You all have the greatest sense of humor I tell ya!
Tom Green was never a gross-out comic when he was on community cable in Canada. I used to stay up weekends to watch him and see what he would do next - he was almost an Andy Kauffman reincarnated with the stunts he would pull. None of them were gross-out, either - once he gave Glenn fireman training, once he set up a stall selling plastic bags outside a variety store, a couple times he drove around to bus stops offering people rides, and so on. When he moved to MTV the show became gross-out humour and sailed right over the shark.
I loved this show when I first started to watch it. Tom Green's mere facial expressions could send me into gales of laughter, and the reactions he got from the unsuspecting butts of his jokes were almost cause for incontinence. While I still enjoy Tom once in a while, I stopped watching regularly when his antics got repetitive and thus, sort of boring. Even we potheads need variety, and there's only so much a person can do legally with a format like that. His parents, by the way, whether they got into this stuff knowingly or not, should be canonized for putting up with him. I know that my mom would have killed me with her bare hands if I did anything remotely like what he has done to his parents.
